Pia Fonnesbech and Hornbækhus are once again ready to collaborate on an art exhibition at Hornbækhus, which will be open to the public from January 31 to May 3.
To mark the occasion, Hornbækhus invites everyone to an opening reception with Fonnesbech on January 31 from 1:00–4:00 PM in the lounge on the first floor, where drinks and snacks will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Fonnesbech and Hornbækhus collaborated for the very first time on an art exhibition in February 2025. Now they are ready to do it again. The collaboration is unique and is rooted in the shared aesthetic that can be found both in Fonnesbech’s paintings and at Hornbækhus. If you have visited Hornbækhus, it doesn’t take long when looking at Fonnesbech’s paintings to recognize the same floral shapes and rounded objects that are found throughout Hornbækhus.
For the past 25 years, Pia Fonnesbech has worked with still lifes, and all her paintings are oil on canvas. Her works are primarily coloristic, characterized by recurring color play and patterns. Over the past 15 years, she has worked with Josef Frank’s patterns, and Josef Frank is also an inspiration for several of the wallpapers at Hornbækhus. These plays of color and patterns appear in many of her wonderful paintings as floral backgrounds and various wallpapers, and you will encounter the same floral and colorful expression when you step inside Hornbækhus. In several of her paintings, you can also find motifs such as jugs, bowls, fruits, and teapots—objects that likewise have their place in the windowsills and on the shelves at Hornbækhus.
Fonnesbech is currently immersed in blue tones, which she has been working with throughout the autumn. In addition to Josef Frank’s patterns, she has also drawn on some of William Morris’s patterns, which you will also experience in the exhibition.
We look forward to presenting Pia Fonnesbech’s paintings.
